Journey struggled to build positive relationships with her peers at school. She was also disruptive in class. She needed an adult in her life to help her learn how to navigate difficult interactions or disagreements with her classmates or teachers. Her struggle at school was holding her back, so Journey's school counselor recommended she become a Little Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Her mother agreed that Journey needed help, so she contacted Big Brothers Big Sisters.

 Journey's Big Sister Hannah decided to volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters because she knows mentoring makes a difference in the lives of both the mentor and mentee. She wanted to grow by helping a Little Sister to grow. 

Journey and Hannah have now been matched for almost seven months. Journey's favorite thing to do with her Big Sister Hannah is play outside. Journey's teachers have noticed that since she has been matched with her Big Sister, she has learned to make better decisions at school and relates better to her classmates as well as her teachers.
