Prior to being matched with Jamion, 8 year-old Kwama had begun to exhibit challenging behavior. His mother believes that much of this challenging behavior was because of his need for a strong male role model. She wanted him to improve his social skills and manage defiance with adults. She felt a stable positive male role model would be great for him.
Jamion and Kwama have been matched for over a year and a half and meet weekly at Kwama’s school. They shoot hoops, work together on Kwama’s homework, and talk about how things are going at school and at home.
Kwama has found a dependable male role model in Jamion. His Big Brother is a man he can rely on and learn from, and Kwama’s mom says that Kwama has grown into a fine young man because of his relationship with his Big Brother.
